Building upon that successful platform, the new Belles 150A Reference Stereo Power Amplifier (version 2) offers improved performance at a price that is lower than the original. The new Belles 150A Reference—version 2 has improved musicality, lower noise, and a high dampening factor, which gives the unit a greater ability to drive difficult speaker loads. With that cost constraint in mind, the finest system I heard at RMAF was one consisting of the new Belles LA-1 preamplifier and MB-200 mono blocks, Lector CD player, Usher Tiny Dance, Stillpoints rack and component stands. The system produced a pure, focused, intimate and highly realistic sound few others could match.”

I heard many great amps and preamps at RMAF, but none impressed me more favorably overall than Belles’ new two piece LA-01 preamp and MB-200 mono blocks. Though obviously not cheap, these components sound so accomplished and refined, and offer so many different dimensions of excellence at once, that it’s a wonder they aren’t priced higher than they are.

Belles VT-01 The Belles SA-30 is a 30-watt solid-state Class A amplifier. It is designed as a solid-state alternative to vacuum tube designs. It competes well with vacuum tubes by offering sonic excellence, lower distortion, solid bass, clearer highs, and excellent reliability. As a single-enclosure, dual-mono design, the Belles SA-30 will enhance the performance of any high-efficiency speaker—particularly horn type designs. The Belles SA-100 is a 100-watt solid-state Stereo Amplifier. Its design is based on the highly successful Belles MB-200. The Belles SA-100 has been designed to provide customers who do not need the extra power of the MB-200 with a compact amplifier, with exceptional 100-watt performance. The Belles VT-01 Vacuum Tube Stereo Preamplifier is the perfect companion to the Belles SA-30 or SA-100 amplifiers. It has been designed with a highly innovation circuit typology that enables it to outperform conventional vacuum tube circuitry. David Belles has found a way to make the unit less dependent on variations in vacuum tube performance caused by manufacture and use. As a result, the Belles VT-01 provides greater clarity and lower noise. The Belles SA-30, SA-100, and VT-01 Musical Trio is a musical tour-de-force for the listener.
